Stays: Norwood Roses in Toowoomba, Australia

I am so excited to introduce you to Norwood Roses, the cutest little Aibnb cottage in the quaint country town of Toowoomba, Queensland. I first came across Norwood Roses when I was reading one of my favourite magazines Country Style and knew it was the perfect excuse to drive up the range, visit our friends and experience all that is, Norwood Roses. But first! I am obviously very well aware that many of you are unable to travel at the moment, let alone cross into Queensland. But I decided to share my stay at Norwood Roses to show my support for small business, and also in the hope that you will bookmark it, and book a stay in the future.

Norwood Roses was built in 1895 and has been faithfully restored into one of Toowoomba’s most dreamy Queenslander cottages - along with an award-winning rose garden. Originally a corner store, it is now a beautiful, light-filled getaway perfect for couples. When we dared to book a weekend away, I convinced Jason to let me indulge in a quiet night alone at Norwood Roses without the kids. Yes, I spent a night at Norwood Roses by myself. I repeat, by myself. And it was amazing. We had planned a little getaway to Toowoomba a few months ago but it got postponed due to another lockdown. So when we drove up the mountain, I couldn't believe we were finally able to enjoy a weekend in this beautiful country town. And as luck would have it, we were able to enjoy Toowoomba's annual Carnival of Flowers. It's the most magical time to visit.

THE COTTAGE

Norwood Roses is a three bedroom, one bathroom cottage filled with natural light, freshly picked flowers from the garden, art, antiques, vintage furniture and plenty of gardening books to ensure your stay is cosy and full of little luxuries. The antique double beds are made up with 1,000 thread count sheets, feather and duck down pillows, mattress toppers and old-fashioned quilts. In other words, they are a dream to sleep on all year-round. If you're not in the kitchen cooking up a storm, you'll find yourself taking a walk in the garden, enjoying breakfast on the back deck or sinking into the dreamy and charming clawfoot bathtub with a glass of bubbles.

THE KITCHEN

The kitchen is fully equipped with coffee tea, sugar, salt, pepper, olive oil and treats, as well as all the utensils and equipment you need to rustle up any meals. The owners love to leave their guests some extra provisions such as a loaf of sourdough from the local bakery, The Bakers Duck as well as eggs, millk, cheese, crackers and chocolate.

THE AMENITIES

With a washing machine and dryer, safe off-street parking for a car or motorbike, reverse cycle air conditioning and heating, high speed internet and Netflix, all you need to think about is putting your feet up and enjoy your new cosy cottage.

THE LOCATION

Norwood Roses is located in central Toowoomba, within walking distance to the city, and is close to popular cafés, homely pubs, trendy cocktail bars and fine-dining restaurants. It truly is a luxurious and relaxed base for a romantic retreat or a weekend away with friends in the Garden City.
