Upcycled Modern Mosaic Coffee Table
I am embarrassed to admit that this rundown coffee table has been languishing in our garage since August last year, but I haven’t been able to part with it because I knew it had lots of potential. It all came down to timing and finally getting this upcycling project done. I’ll have to admit things were looking pretty dire to begin with, but blind faith pulled me through once again, and I am so happy with the result! So let's talk about what I did.
I assembled the frame back together using screws, wood glue and surfboard straps (big thanks to Jase for that amazing idea!). The original top was in bad shape to reuse, and I ended up donating the existing tiles. I cut a piece of MDF before fixing and grouting the tiles - but nothing makes me happier than being able to keep using the Zellige tiles I found at the tip shop last year, and reuse tiles that my friend Monique and reader Diana gave me! This coffee table? Pure joy and my take on modern mosaic! I'm completely in love with it. Thank you to everyone who has stuck by me this week, it's been quite the adventure, and I hope you've loved every minute of it as much as I have!
