Upcycled Wavy Wooden Accent Armchair
From roadside relic to stunning statement piece
Seriously, who knew this old armchair had such a glow-up in it? I found it on the side of the road looking a bit questionable to most, but to me, all I saw was potential. Thankfully The Dirt Company came to the rescue. I applied their Oil, Body & Grease Stain Remover Spray all over the fabric, let it soak in for 15 minutes to allow time for the stain remover to work, and then I thoroughly washed it.
I didn’t love the print on the fabric so I elevated it with non-toxic fabric paint and added a wavy wooden detail to the armrests. This upcycling project is proof that a good deep clean can work miracles and I hope you’ve enjoyed watching this transformation unfold.

Before & After
Tools & Materials
What I love most about this project is that you don’t need a lot of tools or materials! In fact, here’s what I used:
Palm sander
The Dirt Company Oil, Body & Grease Stain Remover & Stain Remove Spray
Spot remover
Timber stain
2 x Microfibre cloth
Non-toxic fabric paint
Paint brush
Timber
Clamps
Jigsaw
Orbital sander (a palm sander will also work well to soften the edges of the wavy edges)
Varnish
