How To Make A Tiny Fabric House

Don’t throw away those old cardboard boxes, make these instead!

Sometimes it's the small things... Earlier this year I gave Celeste's old bedroom a Wes Anderson inspired makeover, but totally forgot to show you how I made this tiny fabric house! I had filmed the process, which you can see here, but because we've just moved into our new home, I thought I'd make some more. The steps are the same, and all you need is an old cardboard box, a ruler, a craft knife, fabric, scissors and craft glue or a hot glue gun. You can make them any size or shape you like, and I love using contrasting fabric with ribbon and lace, which makes the houses look totally adorable. I've also made a printable with the measurements for each house, which you can download below. And now I can't help but think that these tiny fabric houses need some miniature furniture inside. Let me know what you think!

Additional tips:

Make your Little Fabric Houses in different shapes and sizes

Choose contrasting fabrics for the different features of the house

Only use the PVA craft glue on the back of each piece

Use ribbon and lace to add interesting details

Feel free to change the shape of the windows and doors

You could leave the windows vacant and pop a little battery-operated LED light inside to make the house look lit up
