YouTube: How To Make A Fluted Table (using pool noodles!)

Learn how to make a fluted table from scratch using secondhand pool noodles on my YouTube Channel!

Come on an adventure with me over on my YouTube Channel as I make a fluted table using pool noodles - true story! When my friend Jemma asked me to help her make a table for her entryway, I knew a fluted table would look beautiful. The only problem? I had never made one before! But I was up for the challenge. I created a project mood board with a colour palette that reflected her home and style, as well as other images to show how I’d like to style the final reveal and bring my vision to life. She loved it all, so we got to work. I came up with an affordable solution to creating a fluted base after stumbling across a box of pool noodles at a charity shop for $5. Throw in a circle table top with rounded edges and Jemma's genius idea for the base, and here we are.

What I love most about this fluted table is that you can really make it your own. You can paint it any colour you like, you can have a chunky tabletop or even a different shape! However, the biggest surprise were the pool noods - when painted they look like textured concrete! And this texture offset the smooth, rounded top beautifully and brought everything together.

I really hope this project inspires you to make your own fluted table! To see how it all came together, tap the link in my bio and head over to my YouTube channel where you'll find the links to the materials and tools we used in the episode description. Happy making!

What’s happening over on YouTube?

Every month I'll be going to someone's house and helping them upcycle a piece of furniture or home decor they no longer love, but don't want to throw out in favour of buying something else. My purpose is to reduce the impact of fast furniture by showing you how you can breathe new life into pieces you already have at home. Make sure you check out Episode #1 where I helped my friend upcycle a vintage footstool and Episode #2 where my friend and I transformed and tiled an outdoor table.
