YouTube: How To Upcycle A Striped Painted Footstool

I can’t believe I am saying this…the first episode of “Always Making” is now live on YouTube!

Every month I'll be going to someone's house and helping them upcycle a piece of furniture or home decor they no longer love, but don't want to throw out in favour of buying something else. My purpose is to reduce the impact of fast furniture by showing you how you can breathe new life into pieces you already have at home.

For my first episode, come on an adventure with me as I head over to my friends house to help her restore and upcycle an old timber footstool, which her mother gave to her. As you can imagine I was very nervous - no pressure ha! There is also a super cute dog called George, shakshuka and a filming fail. And as with every upcycling project, we hit a couple of snags along the way, but we faced these challenges head on and Sara’s footstool ended up looking more beautiful than we could have ever imagined - and wait till you hear what Sara’s mum thought. The best part? Showing Sara the ropes and helping her bring this very special piece of furniture into the now.

I really hope you liked this first episode! It was so fun to make and you'll find links to all the materials and tools we used in the YouTube description. I’m so excited to bring you a new episode with a new project every month, where I go to someone’s house and help them upcycle a piece of their furniture or home decor.

Watch the episode.
